Basketball

Basketball is a sport that is played by two teams of five players on a rectangular court. The objective is to shoot a ball through a hoop 18 inches (46 cm) in diameter and mounted at a height of 10 feet (3.048 m) to backboards at each end of the court. The game was invented in 1891 by Dr. James Naismith, who would be the first basketball coach of the Kansas Jayhawks, one of the most successful programs in the game's history.

Rules

1. Teams shall comprise of 12 players and a coach.
2. A team member is entitled to play when his name has been entered on the score-sheet before the start of the game and as long as he has neither been disqualified nor committed five (5) fouls.
3. Each team member should be in proper numbered (4-15) team kit.
4. Any equipment that is designed to increase a player's height or reach or in any other way give an unfair advantage is not permitted. Also equipments that can harm other players are not allowed.
5. The captain shall, immediately at the end of the game, inform the referee and event coordinator if his team is protesting against the result of the game. No nuisance shall be created by any team.
6. If a team is unable to field five players till 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time of the game or if the team refuses to play the match then the match is awarded to the opponent team.
7. Each team shall report at the match venue 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their match.
8. Every team member should carry proper college ID. These shall be presented to the event coordinator before the scheduled start of the match.
